A brush fire burned several acres of land on Buck Mountain in Roanoke County last night.

The blaze broke out a little before dark behind the Brandon Woods Subdivision.
Property owner Donnie Blankenship credits firefighters with their quick response time.
The wind caused problems for firefighters, and the location of the fire made it difficult to get to.
Using a bulldozer the Department of Forestry surrounded the blaze with a fire line.
Blankenship says a bottle of butane was found at the scene.
No word yet whether investigators believe that started the fire.

Police officers were sent to the home on Cherry Hill Circle to investigate a complaint of domestic abuse.
Plunkett had been drinking and he resisted the officers' attempts to arrest him.
When Plunkett pulled a rifle from behind the front door, Caldwell says the officers had reason to fear for their lives.

In May of last year, Larry Dean Neighbors, the Second, and David Keith Bell were charged with sexual assault.
Ronlyn Eaton says she was raped by the two men after they gave her a ride home from a bar.
Both deputies were off duty.
In December, Eaton gave birth to twins.
The case was scheduled to go on trial this week but was delayed awaiting the paternity test results.
No new date has been set.

There's more information about a series of unsolved murders in the Richmond area.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports four women killed since the start of the year were strangled.
The newspaper also says that at least three of the 19 women killed since 19-90 were found in their bathtubs.
All of the women were aged 55 and older.
A special task force has been set up to investigate.

Danville police are looking for a suspect in a fatal shooting yesterday.
29-year old Sandra Deshazo was found lying in the street near a car. She had been shot once in the chest.
Meanwhile, police did make an arrest in a murder Wednesday night in the town of Hurt.
17-year old Margueritte Whitfield was shot with a small caliber handgun, at the Pine Acres Trailer Park.
22-year old David Lee Jones was charged with her murder.
