This afternoon at the Virginia Military Institute a 12- year- old boy was
shot and killed and the V-M-I rifle coach was wounded.
The shootings occurred a little after one at V-M-I's rifle range.
The boy, from Lexington, was apparently shot in the chest.
Jim Thorp, V-M-I's rifle coach, was also shot.
He was transported to Stonewall Jackson Hospital.
His wound does NOT appear to be life threatening.
A spokesman from V-M-I says the shootings appear to be accidental.
The boy's name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
A Henry County dispatcher may have overheard the fatal shot that killed a
Collinsville man late last night.
The dispatcher was on the phone with someone who'd called to report a
disturbance at their home on route 6-27, near Fieldale.
When authorities arrived they found 39- year- old Richard Andrew Dillon dead
in the driveway.
Sheriff's officials say it appears two men at the residence were feuding
