It's all the result of the Frito Lay company's decision to build a new plant in Lynchburg.

Allen also took time to address the issue of the federal Goals 2000 money for education.
Congress recently amended the federal budget bill to allow local school districts to apply for the money directly.

Virginia Lottery officials are in deep negotiations with a handful of other states to form a new multi-state drawing -- similar to the 22- state Powerball game.

But Lottery director Penelope Kyle says since those negotiations for a new game have gotten more serious, so have the overtures to Virginia from the company that runs Powerball.
Virginia lawmakers are counting on revenue from some new multi- state drawing by January first.
The Lottery board hopes to make an announcement this summer.

A driver of a motorcycle was killed today when his bike ran into a parked car in southeast Roanoke.

A witness said two bikers were driving down the street when the one on the Red Suzuki lost control.
The victim is 19 year old Jesse Goins of Roanoke.
