Airline officials confirmed that three of the 109 people aboard the D-C-Nine that crashed yesterday into the Florida Everglades were from Virginia.

CHIEF R.D. PAULISON, METRO DADE FIRE RESCUE, "WE'VE FOUND NO BODY PARTS, NO BODIES.
It is now apparent that all 109 people on board ValueJet flight 592 were either incinerated or swallowed up by the sawgrass and muck that is estimated to be 40 feet thick in some spots.
And somewhere down there is the jet's flight recorder, which could give the best evidence to the cause of the crash.
Value Jet president Lewis Jordan once again sought to insure the families of the victims and the riding public that despite problems in the past, his airline is as safe as any other.
LEWIS JORDAN, VALUEJET PRESIDENT, "IF VALUEJET AIRLINES HAD ANY REASON TO BELIEVE... GROUND IT.
FAA records show this particular plane had returned to airports seven times over the past two years because of various maintenance problems.
Over the next week, the NTSB will have the daunting task of finding out what made flight 592 go down.
They are considering draining the water out of this part of the everglades to make digging through the muck easier.
And at churches across the Miami area, special prayers were said for the crash victims, as Mother's Day 1996 became a day of mourning for 109 families.

(( Through 130 years and name changes, Southern Virginia College has always been a two year school for women.
This commencement marks the end of that tradition. ((BRENNEN O'NEILL/'96 GRADUATE: I'M GLAD IT'S NOT CLOSING. I'M GLAD IT'S STAYING OPEN, THE PLACE WILL STILL BE LIVING. THE CHANGE IS GOING TO BE HARD, BUT I THINK IT'S FOR THE BETTER.)) ((ERIKA GAY/'94 GRADUATE: THE TRADITION OF SOUTHER VIRGINIA COLLEGE AS WE KNOW IT WILL BE LOST. The change begins Monday.
That's when a group of Mormon businessmen take over the college.
They say the school will remain non-sectarian, but next year's freshmen class will include men. ((GLADE KNIGHT/NEW BOARD CHAIRMAN: WE WILL BE A FOUR YEAR COLLEGE AND WE WOULD ANTICIPATE TO FILL THE COLLEGE TO CAPACITY WHICH WOULD BE 350-400.)) ((DR ROGER BARRUS/ACADEMIC DEAN: THERE WILL ALSO BE A CODE OF STUDENT CONDUCT THAT WILL DEAL WITH ABSTINENCE FROM THOSE THINGS WHICH DON'T HELP IN LIFE SUCH AS ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND SO ON.))
The new leaders say while the school has no religious affiliation, it will provide a much needed alternative for college students practicing the Mormon faith.
But for the final graduating class of Southern Virginia College for Women it's a bitter sweet day--one marking the beginning of their future and the end of a tradition they cherish.
