It was an emotional decision and a change of heart.
Dole had initially promised to run his campaign from the Senate floor, but
day to day legislative matters leave little time for campaigning.

A four year old Atlanta girl was on the D-C nine, but was not on the
ValuJet officials say she was old enough to be included on the flight
manifest and they're investigating why she was not.
Family members say it's like Amelia Earhart- but with a better ending.
The Bedford County woman who ditched her plane in Smith Mountain Lake spent
today recovering from her injuries, while dive crews salvaged the plane.

Mountain Lake, but never realized it was his daughter Penny.

Simmons was on hand today as dive teams worked to recover his daughter's
plane from the depths of the lake.
It took about five hours to find the aircraft, float it to the surface and
tow it to a nearby boat ramp.
Working in water that was forty feet deep with about three feet of
visibility, divers had their work cut out for them.

A Virginia Tech official says she felt humiliated and ashamed after being
falsely identified in the campus newspaper.
Now she's filing suit.
Sharon Yeagle (YAY-guhl) is suing The Collegiate Times for 850- thousand
The paper identified Yeagle with a made- up job title for a story in its
April 30th issue.
A school official says the fictitious title was on a dummy computer
template-- and was not meant to be printed.
But Yeagle's attorney doesn't think it was a mistake.
