Employees at Bedford's Rubatex plant got a scare earlier today after fire
forced them to evacuate a portion of the plant.

The blaze was reported just after ten when a rubber compound in the back of
the Waltex building caught fire.
Plant officials say a sprinkler system put the fire out, but thick, a-crid
smoke filled the building.
Firefighters spent more than two hours ventilating the structure.
No injuries were reported, although a number of workers complained of eye
and throat irritations from the heavy smoke.

A small plane with seven people abaord crashed into The Chesapeake Bay
today near Annapolis, Maryland.
Miraculously the two adults and five children survived- The man and woman
are at a Shock Trauma Unit in serious condition.
The plane apparently lost power during take off and crashed into about
four feet of water.

Having Mitral Valve Prolapse is rarely life threatening but if bacteria
gets into the bloodstream and attaches to the heart valve it can cause serious
problems so to prevent infection its' recommended that most women take
antibiotics before surgery or dental work.
The exact cause of the problem is not known but many experts think
it's hereditary.
Treatment usually isn't necessary but all women with MVP should get
regular follow-up to make sure the problem isn't getting worse.

Hundreds of people donned their disco gear for Studio 54's last dance.

At its peak in the '70s, the club was the mecca for dance fever.
The late Steve Rubell and his partner (e-IN) Ian Schrager opened the former
soundstage in 1977... and closed 20 months later, after they pleaded guilty to
tax evasion.
But last night, Studio-54 was packed remembering and dancing like it used to
be.
Gloria Gaynor performed her disco classic "I Will Survive."
The event was sponsored by a radio station. Tickets were 200 dollars a piece
and the profits benefit Aids research.
What's the future for studio 54? It's going to be turned into a virtual
reality family entertainment center.
