It's been a tough few years for Roanoke's Singer Furniture plant-- fire,
alleged stock fraud, and numerous ownership changes.
Now officials are locking up the plant for good.

A Christiansburg man says an alleged cyber- romance led him to kill his
Michael Knowles is charged with murder.
He spoke with Tracy Altizer today from the Montgomery County jail.

Today, speaking by phone Knowles explained he believed he had found evidence
that Angie Knowles was having an on-line romance.

Within an hour, Knowles says he had entered his wife's home and shot her.
He says an angel told him America's economy would crash, and he wanted his
children to have insurance money to see them through.

Knowles says he was depressed because Angie and the children moved out of
the house while he was out of the country.
He says he still doesn't understand why she left.

Knowles says he wanted to kill himself too, but his daughter talked him out

A 24- year old was killed in Danville this morning when the tractor he was
driving overturned and caught fire.
Robert Perry McGregor, Junior was cutting grass using a bushhog when the
tractor flipped over and trapped him underneath.
Police believe McGregor died before the tractor caught fire.
The accident happened around 9:45 near "Camper Care" on Route 58.
Rubatex employees are still cleaning up from a fire that forced the
evacuation of part of their Bedford plant this morning.
The blaze started in the rear of the Waltex building, where a compound used
to make foam rubber ignited.
The building's sprinkler system extinguished the blaze, but heavy smoke
filled the structure.
Firefighters spent several hours ventilating the building.
Rubatex officials don't know what caused the fire.
There was no damage to the building or any equipment, and they plan to be
back in full operation Tuesday morning.

of the Division Three Baseball tournament at Salem Memorial Stadium.
