The Virginia N-Double-A-C-P has called for a "selective buying campaign" directed against Circuit City Stores.
The Richmond-based appliance and electronics chain is the target of two race discrimination suits.
A state N-Double-A-C-P official says the campaign is not a boycott.
But he called on consumers to take a strong look at where and how they spend their money.
The company has denied any discrimination in hiring and promotions.

A Roanoke County woman says she'll go to the highest authority if she has to, but she won't give up.
Carolyn Anderson's parked car was hit by a Salem fire truck, and so far she has gotten nowhere with her claim for damages.
The law gives cities immunity for such things when providing legitimate governmental services.
Anderson's 1995 Grand Prix was sideswiped while she was attending her daughter's graduation earlier this month at Roanoke College.
The fire truck was responding to an emergency call.
The damage was under 400 dollars, but Salem's insurance won't pay it.

By 19-98, four of the most secure prisons in the nation will be right here in Virginia.
And as Ellen Qualls reports, there are more changes planned in state corrections.

Hence, Red Onion and Wallen's Ridge in Wise and Dickenson Counties.
They're just drawings now -- but by dividing the state's most violent predators into two separate units, they're the safest plans Angelone's 27 years' experience has to offer.

So all four prisons have a new first in Virginia: guns and gun turrets INSIDE, overlooking the common areas, the mess hall.
