The man accused in the killing of a Vinton couple and their infant daughter
while fleeing from police says he's ready to plead guilty.
Scott Allman Junior waived his preliminary hearing today and plans to plead
guilty to three counts of manslaughter in circuit court next month.

Laura Reinhard was working for the City Police Vice Squad.
She made 20 dollars for every successful purchase. If the clerk demanded
to see an I-D- -or otherwise refused to sell her alcohol- -she got nothing.
Including payment for her appearance in court, Reinhard made 360 dollars.

The daughter of a narcotics officer, Reinhard hopes to become a police

She calmly recounted the afternoon of April 9th... like any other
undercover officer on the witness stand.
Based on her testimony, the judge convicted the clerk.
In one case where fellow undercover operative, Tanya Lightfoot was with
her, Reinhard even quizzed the clerk: "Don't you think she looks too young?"
Lightfoot was 18, wearing braces at the time.

The National Guard is moving into tornado ravaged Kentucky.

destroying 600 homes and damaging many others.
Local officials have imposed a state of emergency in Bullitt
County, and imposed a curfew.
Thousands in the region remain without power.

fatalities and only a handful of injuries.

Montgomery County is building a new elementary school in the Riner
community-- but not everyone's happy about it.
Tonight, school officials unveiled plans for the new Auburn Strand
The school will absorb students from Riner and Bethel Elementary schools.
Riner will become a middle school.
No word yet on what will happen with the Bethel School-- and that has at
least one resident upset.

But that signal was quickly muddled.
Godwin told reporters by telephone that he'd authorized "no" such
endorsement -- only quiet support and regret he couldn't attend.
But one might have sensed trouble when Miller's hand-selected emcee told the
crowd that dislike of Warner should be "reason enough" to vote for Miller, and
that Miller was, in his words, "no ding dong."
Meanwhile, a Democratic party news conference actually bolstered Miller's
claim he's more conservative than John Warner.

The California state appeals board overturned the jury's conviction of
Jurors on the case admitted to illegal vote swapping to avoid a deadlock.
Fleiss will get a new trial where she faces a three- year prison term for
operating a call girl ring.
She still faces a federal conviction on money laundering.
After a week of rain, the sun finally made an appearance today, giving some
strawberry growers a ray of hope for saving their season.
Berry producers say the long stretch of gray skies kept people at home
instead of heading to the fields to pick strawberries.
At J-D Scott's farm near Moneta, the crowds have been down almost eighty
percent the last several days.
With acres of ripe strawberries ready for picking, Scott says the next few
days will be crucial for his business.

The Region Three softball tournament finally got underway tonight in Dry Fork
with Lord Botetourt beating Gretna

ominous looking sky watching over them.
The Lady Bees stung Northside in the opening inning, as Megan White hits
bloop single to second base that scores Brandy Moore to give the Bees a
Brookville's Amanda Harris then singles to right field plating Amber
Cumberland and the Bees end the inning on top 3-to-nothing.
Northside would mount a comeback in the second, with Lee Carter lining a shot
to center and bringing home Holly Booth. It's now 3-to-1.
Carter would then score on a wild pitch as Northside gets within a run, but
Brookville wins it 8-to-7.
Botetourt next plays Amherst in the semifinals while Brookville next takes on
The Roanoke Riverdawgs played host to the Hampton Roads Mariners tonight
over at Cave Spring Junior High.
