The F-B-I is turning up the pressure on the Freemen.
It's added more equipment to its arsenal- including a rescue helicopter and
three black armored cars that moved in today.
The FBI also sent out a press release saying the equipment may be needed
for emergency rescues-
Officials say there are no immediate plans to use force and they're still
hoping for a peaceful resolution.
The release does go on to suggest the FBI is "running out of options."
The standoff has gone on for more than two months.

Festival in the Park organizers are hoping a federal appeals court judge
would lift the court order which allowed a Libertarian to hand out leaflets
this weekend. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for tomorrow.
Though the Festival takes over the public park and other city properties
for two weeks every year, the director thinks the Festival should not be bound
by Constitutional provisions that apply to the government.

between Festival and the city to deprive Rutledge of his Constitutional

Four new police officers are hitting the streets in Lynchburg.
After completing 17 weeks of basic training, the new recruits were sworn in
during ceremonies this morning.

The Valujet Crash in Florida is prompting new safety precautions.
The National Transportation Safety Board today released these

One company is pulling its ads from Vogue magazine saying the models are
Watchmaker Omega canceled ads with British Vogue to protest the use of

But Vogue says the magazine is sensitive to people with eating disorders.
And it says the model is not the slightest bit anorexic- saying she eats

A Henry County teen is facing at least 23- years in prison for a crime spree
last fall that ended in murder.
16- year old Tommy Helms pleaded guilty in Henry County court this morning
to shooting and killing a 15- year old girl.
Lavina Scales' body was discovered last fall along a roadside in Bassett.
The two had dated-- But as far as a motive-- the only one given in court was
an indication Helms was upset with her.
Lavina's father and older sister were in the courtroom.
