In Roanoke City, which boasts more Democratic voters than Republicans--

Honda Accords and Civics are turning out to be the hottest of the "HOT" cars
in Roanoke.
15 Hondas have been stolen in the city over the past six weeks.
Police say there are apparently two groups stealing the cars... one
juveniles and the other adults.
Officials have arrested four youngsters so far, but they believe others are
still at large.
In the meantime they're encouraging Honda owners to watch where they park
their cars and maybe look into getting anti-theft devices.

A Danville woman yesterday filed a federal lawsuit against the city and
Police Chief Neal Morris.
The lawsuit also targets several unknown people believed to be police
officers.
Pam Carter alleges the department violated her rights when police knocked
down the door to her home and placed her and her husband in handcuffs two years
ago.
Carter says her young children were frightened and she urinated on herself.
According to court papers, the couple was taken in as suspects in two local
robberies.
Pam Carter was never convicted of a crime and her husband was later
acquitted of robbing a local Piggly Wiggly.
Carter is asking for a jury trial.

from 9am to noon these special kids turn into fierce competitors.

For the past six years coaches and parents of mentally and physically
handicapped children have organized a saturday baseball game for their kids.
The players range in age from 7 to 19 and both boys and girls compete. The
program has grown from 8 players to the forty who now involved in the Oak Grove
Elementary baseball bonanza.

There are two teams that play the Spartans and the Jaycees. Both the kids and
the adults have a blast.

The games are seven innings long and the focus is not on what they can't do
but what they can.

R-B-X Holdings of Roanoke has purchased the Ensolite division of the
Uniroyal Technology Corporation.
Ensolite makes closed cell foam products used in things like pool floats,
life jackets, and automotive gasket devices.
R-B-X does NOT anticipate this will mean any new jobs for its foam rubber
plant in Bedford, which employs more than 800 people.
