About 53 cattle are dead after a mix-up at a ranch in Botetourt County.

held in a pen.
It's unknown how long they were there.
Botetourt County Animal Control officials say they died from excessive heat
and a lack of water.
It happened at the Braeman ranch near Daleville.
The ranch belongs to the Woodhill Corporation which is in turn owned by T-D
Steel.
But the cattle are said to belong to someone from out of town.
The loss is estimated at 10 thousand dollars.

A former Danville police officer wants a federal jury to help win her job
back.
Cheryl Bartee is suing Police Chief Neal Morris, his assistant B-C Elliott
and two others for gender discrimination.
Bartee was fired last year for allegedly giving false information to a grand
jury.

According to court papers, Bartee was later reinstated by a grievance panel
but was fired again for allegedly violating department policy by taping a
conversation with another employee.
The tape was used as evidence in the grievance hearing in which Bartee was
reinstated.

Conference says the lawsuit and three others against the police department have

The not so little bear later pulled a disappearing act, and now authorities
are searching for the cub- so they can tranquilize it and return it to the
