Governor George Allen says a California decision to throw out the state's
"three strikes" sentencing law has "no" bearing on a similar measure passed
here in Virginia.
The California Supreme Court yesterday ruled that judges may ignore the
"three strikes" sentencing guidelines, if they felt the punishment was too
harsh.
Two dozen states have passed similar measures, aimed at cracking down on
repeat offenders.
