In some areas rain fell at the rate of three inches per hour.
Governor Allen declared a state of emergency for most of Virginia.
Rockbridge County was one of the hardest hit areas.
Last year we introduced you to two elderly couples who needed to rebuild a
bridge connecting their homes to the road.
Since then, the bridge has been replaced.
But as Denise Allen reports--the waters may have receded, but they are still
making waves.

The White House defends First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton after a new book
revealed she met with a new age self help author and psychic researcher.
The book written by Watergate reporter Bob Woodward said consultant Jean
Houston got Mrs. Clinton to hold imaginary talks with Eleanor Roosevelt.
Yesterday White House Chief of staff Leon Peneta said passages from the
book have been taken out of context.

Firefighters across the country are waging a war on wildfires in Arizona.

Crews from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida are working to battle a
blaze about 12 miles north of Flagstaff which has spread to nearly nine
thousand acres.
Some homes have been evacuated.
The "Bridgers Knoll" fire near the Grand Canyon has spread to 15-hundred
acres.
More than 17-thousand acres have been blackened in northern Arizona.
It is a similar story in Nevada.

A Martinsville man was killed in a single vehicle accident yesterday.
State Police say 38-year old Ricky Alexander Rudd died on Route 832 in
Pittsylvania County about 4:30 yesterday afternoon.
Rudd was traveling west, lost control of his vehicle and overturned.
Police say he died instantly.
