Officials now say all the fatalities are Americans.

The bomb, in the form of a truck full of fuel blew up just outside the King
Abdul Aziz Airbase in Dahran. These pictures of the base were taken last
August. Foreign troops enforcing the no fly zone over southern Iraq are
stationed here. Some Middle East experts suspect the attack was carried
out by Arab extremists who want the U.S. Military out of Saudi Arabia.

That same group of extremists claimed responsiblity for a car bomb
in Riyad Saudi Arabia, which killed five Americans last year. The four
Saudis who confessed were beheaded.
Eyewitnesses are comparing this recent bombing to a scud missile
attack on Dahran which killed 27 people during the Gulf War, but they say
the destruction from today s bombing is worse....Elizabeth Kaledin, CBS News,
Police caught up with a suspect in this weekend's murder of a Roanoke woman.
Aquila Barnett was arrested today at his mother's home in Charlotte, North
Barnett is accused in the shooting death of his former girlfriend- 23-year
old Robin A. Williams early Saturday morning.
Police believe Barnette had apparently stalked Williams before murdering
Barnett was described as highly jealous. He was suspected of setting an
April fire at the home Williams shared with her boyfriend.
The couple had to jump from a second story window to escape the flames.
A family member called Charlotte police and notified them of Barnett's
location. He was arrested without incident.
Another case of domestic stalking that ended in murder came to a close in a
Roanoke courtroom today.
Bryant Ross admitted he ambushed his ex-wife in her own home.
Vickie and Bryant had been separated about a month when he shot her

Witnesses said Ross told them he planned to booby-trap the house, and leave

Until he shot his wife last Christmas, Ross had been convicted of nothing
more serious than traffic offenses.
Theodore Kaczynski pleads innocent to charges that he's the unabomber.
He's charged with ten counts in all- two murder for bombing attacks in the

estimates the trial could be as long as a year and half away.
The man in charge of the Federal Aviation Administration admits the agency
should've dealt with Valujet's problems sooner.

searching for may not even exist,
and some Hill City residents are afraid a restaurant's plans to attract more
business could also bring more problems.

Lynchburg authorities now say that two-week old baby they were frantically
searching for yesterday may not even exist.
Authorities were called to this home Monday after getting a phone tip that
the woman there might harm her newborn baby.
Minutes later that woman, 30-year old Beverly Renee Wade, crashed a stolen
car on the Route 501 Expressway.
Police still don't know whether Wade ever gave birth to a child. There are
no hospital records and she's not talking to authorities.
Wade has been charged with grand theft and remains held without bond.
A Restaurant owners effort to to attract more customers in Lynchburg has
neighbors worried about an increase in crime and violence.
Sassy's Restaurant and Lounge now occupies the old Trailways bus station on
But people who live nearby argued bitterly with Sassy's- over whether the
restaurant should have full use of a nearby parking lot for its customers.
Opponents claim the night spot will only create problems for downtown.

The zoning board granted Sassy's the variance to use the parking lot, but
will take up the issue again in one year.
Sassy's is also petitioning the A-B-C Board for a liquor license.
That hearing is scheduled for next month.
Virginia Residents will soon be able to call a toll free number if they have
any information about the rash of Church fires.
Virginia's Attorney General Jim Gilmore says his office will create the

In the past 18 months, more than 40 black churches in the south have fallen
victim to fire.
The list includes two in Virginia-- the Glorious Church of God in Christ in
Richmond... and the First Baptist Church of Centralia in Chesterfield County.
In a time when black churches across the south are being destroyed by
arsonists, one Lynchburg chapel has been restored to its former glory.
The Court Street Baptist Church lost its steeple during a violent windstorm
three years ago this month.
After a lengthy court battle with the insurance company, the church saw its
new steeple finally ease into place today.

Court Street Baptist was built in 1879. It is the oldest black church in
Rail fans and lawmakers hoping for passenger train service to southwest and

on paper, as they are in person.
The Miss Virginia pageant suffered a setback last year-- when Andrea
Ballengee lost her crown when discrepancies were found on her application.
But the incident proved to be a valuable lesson.

Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda spent last night in the hospital after
complaining of abdominal pains.
The 68 year old skipper will undergo a battery of tests later today.
The Salem Avalanche continues to have troubles during the early stages of the
second half of this Carolina League season.
But tonight Salem comes back from the grave to beat Prince William 12 to 10.

"Big Dog" quit the team because of injuries.
Milwaukee Bucks forward Glenn Robinson, who already was the most questionable
selection on the team, is backing out because of an achilles problem.

The NBA draft is set for tomorrow night in New Jersey and reports out of
Charlotte tonight say the Hornets may be interested in trading Larry Johnson to

The Hornets are also trying to drum up excitement for a new coliseum, and
they almost got one the queen city's big dogs to lead the charge.
Bruton Smith, the owner of the Charlotte, Atlanta, Texas and Bristol Motor
Speedways offered to buy the team for a reported $150 million dollars.

Former Radford University assistant men's basketball coach Dave Dickerson is
on the move again.
A little over a month after taking job at Marshall, Dickerson has been hired

A ribbon was cut to re-commission the miniature train.

Train rides are a dollar for adults and 75 cents for those 12 and under.
It's a hundred years old, but it's still on a roll.
This week marks the one hundredth birthday of one of the world's best loved
candies---the Tootsie roll.
So to celebrate the company threw itself a birthday bash complete with a
four foot long Tootsie Roll cake.
The chocolate confection began in a small New York City storefront in 1896
and has been a candy constant ever since.
The company still makes 49-MILLION of the candies every single day.
Company president Ellen Gordon says if you placed all the Tootsie Rolls
produced in a year end to end..they would reach to the moon and back.
