One man is dead after a boating accident today on Smith Mountain Lake.
Authorities say the 24-year man from Woodbridge was killed when the jet ski he was driving struck a boat.
The accident happened about 1:00 near the Bull Run section of the Lake in Franklin County.
The name of the victim has not been released and the accident is still under the investigation.
Todays death was the first this year involving a boat on Smith Mountain lake and the first involving a jet ski in at least three years.

That could mean layoffs for its employees.

Jean, today we learned that Price Costco, a large warehouse club chain in Washington state, is pulling its line from the Yokohama plant.
This isn't the first time Costco has had bad news for Yokohama.
If you remember this is the same company that had problems with the Salem plant just last year.

Yokohama didn't fire anyone, but rather took steps to solve the problem.

Dan Hunter, Yokohama's Vice President of Marketing said losing Price Costco was not a result of what Yokohama did or didn't do.
A notice Yokohama posted in the plant said Price Costco simply wanted to cut down on the number of its suppliers.

The Beamer's have donated $50 thousand dollars to Tech.
The gift will be used for facilities improvements, and it marks the second time Beamer has given his alma mater $50 thousand. He also did so in 1991.

Pete Sampras picked up a straight set win over the man who beat him in the Australian Open, Mark Philippoussis.
He gets the 7-6, 6-4, and 6-4 win although Philippoussis had his moments, recording 28 aces. His first serve was regularly clocked around 125 miles an hour.
Top seeded Steffi Graf also won today in the second round as she disposed of Nathalie Baudone in straight sets 7-5 and 6-3.
