The move comes just two days after the U-S Supreme Court declared state
supported schools can't ban women.
A miscommunication involving Roanoke city and Charlotte North Carolina
police has proved costly. Officers failed to apprehend a man now accused of
stalking and killing his ex-girlfriend in Roanoke.
Authorities say it all began in April when Robin Williams' Roanoke apartment
was allegedly torched by her former boyfriend Aquilia Barnette.
Police believed Barnette then returned to his home in Charlotte.
Officers there say they received three teletypes from Roanoke City police to
arrest Barnette but thought the address was wrong.
Then last weekend police say Barnette caught up with Williams and shot and
killed her in Roanoke.
Later Charlotte authorities discovered the address given by Roanoke Police
was correct-- but maintain a phone call would have been better than teletyped

The teens, who are from all around the country, will head home tomorrow.
It was a close call for three central Virginia men last night after they
were forced to make an emergency belly landing at the Lynchburg airport.
The landing gear in David Parker's Cessna 2-10 became stuck soon after he
took off from New London Airport.
When the gear refused to go up or down, Parker brought the plane into
Lynchburg on its belly.

Lewis Gale Clinic, in the market for a partner to invest in the practice,
may have found one.
A physician with the Salem-based Clinic says the company is in negotiations
with Phy-Cor, a Tennessee physician management business.
Apparently, patient care would not be impacted with the change.
Joining Phy-Cor would give the clinic access to a regional network of
Lewis Gale Clinic is the state's largest physician-owned practice, with
some 135 doctors and nearly 11-hundred employees.
A new tenant at the Radford Arsenal hopes to keep employees AND the general
public in shape.
Carilion has opened a wellness center in the arsenal's former gymnasium.
It's complete with racquetball courts, space for Nautilus equipment and free
weights and a separate room for cardiovascular workouts.
Downsizing would have forced arsenal operator Alliant Techsystems to close
But the deal with Carilion turned it into the first public facility of its
kind located on Army property.

In a single eight hour shift, the neo-natal intensive care
unit suddenly got very busy.
The day started with twins, Nicholas and Melissa.
Then just before 11 a-m the triplets arrived--Vincent, Samantha and Jenna
are said to be doing fine.
Wait--there's more. At 5 p-m quadruplets made their debut---Addison,
Blythe, Carson and Drake. The babies arrived ten weeks early and 20 doctors
and nurses were on hand to assist in the deliveries. Even in a hospital where
more than 4-thousand babies are born each year, staffers say yesterday was a
day they won't soon forget.
