Miscommunication between Roanoke City and Charlotte North Carolina police
may have proved fatal.
Charlotte officers failed to apprehend a man now accused of stalking and
killing his ex-girlfriend in Roanoke.
Authorities say it all began in April when Robin Williams' Roanoke
apartment was allegedly torched by her former boyfriend Aquilia Barnette.
Police believed Barnette then returned to his home in Charlotte.
Officers there say they got three teletypes from Roanoke City police to
arrest Barnette but thought the address was wrong.
Then last weekend, police say Barnette caught up with Williams in Roanoke
and shot and killed her.
Later Charlotte authorities discovered the address given by Roanoke Police
was correct-- but maintain a phone call would have been better than teletyped
