Campbell County prosecutors spent the day arguing that two teenagers charged
with murder should have THEIR cases transferred out of juvenile court.
They included 16- year- old Timothy Darryl Alexander, accused of beating to
death an elderly Altavista man last month.
A juvenile probation officer testified today Alexander has a record of
violent offenses, and treatment has not seemed to help.

Police in Chesterfield County have arrested three suspects in the April 16th
burning of a black church building.
The suspects are described as two adult males and a juvenile female.
The three were arrested over the weekend.
The suspects are white, but authorities say the burning of the First Baptist
Church of Centralia was an act of vandalism and not one of racism.
All three are charged with the malicious burning of an unoccupied building.
The arrest followed an ivestigation by county and state police and the
federal A-T-F.

A 28 year- old man was crushed to death beneath three tons of steel in
Wythe County over the weekend.
It happened at the construction site of a new hotel being built in Fort
Chiswell.
State police say Ted Harrison Logan, Junior of Missouri was working for a
contractor installing an elevator.
Logan was in the bottom of the shaft when a chain broke that was suspending
the steel pipe above him.
Logan was buried for almost two hours before rescuers were able to lift the
pipe.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the
accident.
