One teenager, Linel K. Miller, a Virgin Islands resident, is dead and more than a dozen others injured after their van ran off a road in Amherst County this afternoon.
Steve Smallshaw reports the teens were on a holiday outing from their summer job program when the accident occurred.

The accident scene was chaotic.
Injured teenagers were strewn about on stretchers as emergency personnel from five different rescue squads treated their injuries.
Some were more serious...others suffered scrapes and bruises and were able to walk away from the crash.
It took more than an hour to get all the victims loaded onto stretchers and sent on to Lynchburg General Hospital.

The incident happened in May.

The three time defending champion was ousted by Dutchman Richard Krajieck 7-5, 7-6, 6-4 in a match that was carried over from Wednesday.
When play resumed yesterday Krajieck led 2 sets to none and the two were tied 1 to 1 in the third set. Krakicek was never broken in the match he served up six aces to bring his total to 29 for the match. He lost only two points.
