One lane was closed while authorities offloaded the cargo of poultry parts.
Traffic was backed up for 3 miles and state police re-routed some traffic
onto Route 11.
This morning's fatal accident was the second in Rockbridge County in as many
days.
Authorities were surprised by today's traffic volume--
It rivaled that of the Sunday after Thanksgiving-- which is traditionally
the heaviest traffic day of the year.
State Troopers encourage motorists to drive early or late in the day to
avoid crowds.

Things got pretty tense in Bosnia over the weekend -- as Bosnian Serbs
threatened to fire at American helicopters.

U-S Soldiers were involved in a tense stand off with about 2000 Bosnian
Serb civilians in front of the Bosnian Serb Army headquarters.
It apparently began when some U-S helicopters flew over the area to verify a
sighting of Bosnian Serb armored vehicles.
The vehicles were reportedly outside areas designated for them by the Dayton
peace agreement.
Late yesterday, the Bosnian Serb forces were apologizing for what they
called a "mistake."

Neighbors of an elderly woman whose house was destroyed by fire say Roanoke
County firefighters arrived too late to save the home.
But officials say rescue units were dispatched in a timely fashion.

Fire fighters were called to this Oakland Boulevard house yesterday around
1-30.
Chief Tommy Fuqua (Few-qua) told News 7 that the first unit arrived nine
minutes after it was dispatched.
Fuqua says usually after a 9-1-1 call it takes a dispatcher one minute to
contact fire fighters.
Neighbors say it took at least 15 minutes for department members to respond.
They also say once the fire fighters arrived they didn't know where the
water hydrants were located.
The blaze destroyed Eula Tribbett's home.
Investigators are still trying to determine how it started.

Tomorrow union members will vote on Rubatex's contract offer.
Last Sunday union members narrowly voted down this same proposal.
The company has threatened to layoff nearly three hundred workers and move
part of the operation out of state if the offer is turned down.

operation, it will move no matter how the union votes."
Bedford Mayor Mike Shelton says if the jobs leave the community's morale

Union workers at Rubatex in Bedford will get a second vote on a proposal
they rejected that prompted the rubber products company to announce the
transfer of 287 jobs out of state.
Rubatex says it will take a strong and positive vote in favor of new work
rules and mandatory overtime to keep the jobs in Bedford.

A strike at the Delta Star transformer plant in Lynchburg has been averted,
with union workers approving a new contract.
The electrical workers rejected the original company offer because of
differences over wage increases and work schedules.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board has now put up the first six million
dollars for the Virginia portion of the proposed Interstate 73.
If all goes according to plan, the first segments of the highway could be
under construction in five to ten years.
Checking the Dow Jones Industrial Average for the week, it fell 66 points,

son Johnathon point-blank range on Mother's Day on 19-91.
Stewart said he snapped after losing his job and being asked for a divorce
by his wife.

The competition in the Commonwealth Games continued with a new event which
attracted competitors of all ages.

The competition was divided into three divisions--juniors, adults and
