South Floridians this morning are preparing for Bertha.

Forecasters say the hurricane could hit the Miami area sometime late tomorrow or Thursday.
The huge storm is picking up steam and has been upgraded to a category three hurricane, making it very dangerous and destructive.
Bertha's winds are now 115 miles-an-hour as it closes in on the Bahamas and Domimican Republic.

Officials are urging Miami residents to buy batteries and bottled water, and prepare for a possible evacuation.

In Bertha's wake, at least two people are dead and amateur radio operators say a vessel is missing off the Puerto Rican coast.
Although that island was spared Bertha's full force, the hurricane then moved on to the Virgin Islands where it struck with 80- mile- per hour winds.

Chopski's lawyer says the program cut his profit by eleven percent.

When first confronted with evidence of fraudulent billing, Chopski allegedly told Trigon's auditor that he could "get a good lawyer and ...make it look like accidental billing."
A defense lawyer told the jury yesterday Chopski "can't explain away every mistake," but he points out that there are just 19-hundred dollars worth of discrepancies out of more than 600-THOUSAND dollars in billing over two-and-a half years.

Meantime, Trigon has some legal problems of its own.
Albemarle County has become the latest municipality to file a lawsuit against the insurer.
The suit claims Trigon owes the county at least one-point-one million dollars.
The case is similar to ones brought by Charlottesville and Lynchburg.
The localities contend that Trigon negotiated discounts for hospital services and failed to pass on the savings.
Trigon would not comment.

When it comes to unemployment, the Roanoke and Lynchburg areas have some of the lowest jobless rates in the state.

The May figures released by the Virginia Employment Commission show the Roanoke area has a jobless rate of roughly two-and-a-half percent.
The Lynchburg region comes in around three-and-a-half percent.
Both communities have seen their unemployment numbers drop compared to the same period a year ago.
Statewide, unemployment in May went down to just a little over four- percent.
That's the lowest number in May in six years.

The powerful storm has been upgraded to a category three hurricane, packing winds of 115 miles and hour.
Hurricane watchers are comparing Bertha to hurricane "Hugo" in '89 and "Gilbert" in '88.
The storm is now headed toward the Bahamas and Domimican Republic.

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center say Bertha's chances of hitting the U-S are no more than 30 percent.
