A four year old boy died today when a fighter plane crashed into a Florida
The boy's mother was severely injured.
The F-16 was being moved from the path of Hurricane Bertha when it

Meanwhile Bertha's top winds have dropped to 80 miles an hour- but
officials along the coast are not taking any chances.
Many areas of North and South Carolina are under evacuation orders
Bertha could make landfall tomorrow.

It now appears Bertha is going to Myrtle Beach- South Carolina.
The National Hurricane Center predicts the storm will most likely hit at
around noon tomorrow.
But the center warns that damaging winds will be felt hours
earlier along the Carolina coast.

The pilot ejected and is in good condition-
The F-16 was flying from Shaw Air Force Base, in South Carolina to Eglin
Air Force Base in Florida to avoid Hurricane Bertha.

The federal court released this home video today.
On the tape militia-men describe the explosive charge as sixty pounds of
ammonium nitrate is mixed with fuel.
Six members of the militia group were released from jail
They promised they would avoid explosives and obey the law between now and
their August trial.
Six others will remain in jail because the judge said they may be at heart
or try to flee.

The assault ended in a fire that killed more than 80 people.

Vandals have struck a Halifax County congregation.
The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses near Halifax was vandalized sometime
Members discovered several thousand dollars in damages this morning.

27- year old Kevin Ray Davis of Gladys has been charged with felony breaking
and entering of a church and felony vandalism.
Members told authorities Davis was at the hall last night causing trouble.

quality between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

It's been a tremendous year so far for Optical Cable.
The company went public in April.
And stock prices peaked at 134- dollars a share.
Then, last month the company made a 13-million dollar sale to a Japanese
Financial difficulties and problems with the landlord forced it to close

Now the former Straight Street teen center is coming back to Christiansburg,
with a new building and a new name.
The new facility is located in a former body shop on Radford Road.
It will be called the One-80 Club, with offerings for young adults and
families as well as teens.

Former NFL great and Danville product Ferrell Edmunds is grooming future
The third annual Ferrell Edmunds Football Camp is underway at Blairs Middle
The camp provides kids ages 10- through 18 an opportunity to sharpen their
skills on the field by focusing on the fundamentals.
The six-foot-six Edmunds is a former tight end for the Miami Dolphins and
Edmunds, who's now retired, says the camp is an opportunity to reach out to
