A central Virginia man lost both his feet after being hit by a train near Rustburg early this morning.

It happened on Route 680 around 3:15.
State police say 22-year-old Lewis E. Noel, Junior of Madison Heights was apparently sitting on the railroad tracks when he was struck by a northbound Norfolk Southern train.
Rescue crews say the train's wheels severed Noel's feet.
He suffered other minor injuries and was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital.
He's listed in stable condition.
Police say Noel had been drinking just before the accident.

Months of deadlock have finally ended in a divorce agreement between Prince Charles and Princess Diana, according to British media.
The B-B-C reports Buckingham Palace could make a formal announcement today.
One tabloid says the agreement calls for Diana to get 26- million dollars for agreeing to the divorce.

A fiery crash of an F-16 fighter plane in Pensacola, Florida killed a four-year-old boy and severely burned his mother.

The violence came swiftly on the heels of a surprise decision by authorities to let pro- British protestants march through a Catholic enclave.

And mayhem erupted at New York City's Madison Square Garden last night at the end of a heavyweight boxing match.
It happened after Riddick Bowe won over Andrew Golota.
Golota was dis-qualified in the seventh round after a second low blow that knocked Bowe to the canvas.
That sent one of Bowe's handlers into Golota's corner where he attacked the fighter.
Then spectators joined in.
It continued for about 30 minutes.

The winds are already picking up along the coast of the Carolinas this morning, and forecasters say more is in store as Hurricane ``Bertha'' slowly moves toward land.
Forecasters say it looks like Bertha's center will come ashore near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina around noon, but much of the storm's greatest fury will be to the northeast, impacting North Carolina.

Former Heavyweight Champion Riddick Bowe found himself on the ground in the 7th round after Andrew Golota landed his fourth low blow.
The Polish heavyweight was disqualified from the fight.
One of Bowe's handlers began hitting Golota on the head with a walkie-talkie while the ring filled with people, many of whom were wildly throwing blows of their own.
It continued for about 30 minutes.
Golota's 74 year old trainer was injured during the skirmish and is now hospitalized in stable condition.
Authorities say about 20 others suffered minor injuries, including 8 police officers.

The storm weakened considerably yesterday, but officials are warning residents in Bertha's potential path to remain on guard.
The National Hurricane Center predicts the storm's center will come ashore in northern South Carolina around midday.

But forecasters say the worst winds may be felt in southern North Carolina.
Bertha is a big storm, some 400 miles wide, and her stregnth was evident long before landfall.
More than 250 thousand people were ordered to evacuate coastal communities in both states yesterday.
