A central Virginia man lost both his feet after being hit by a train early this morning in Campbell County.

It happened shortly after 3 o'clock on Route 680 near Rustburg.
State police say 22-year-old Lewis E. Noel Junior of Madison Heights was apparently sitting on the railroad tracks when he was struck by a northbound Norfolk Southern train. Rescue crews say the train's wheels severed Noel's feet.
He suffered other minor injuries and was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital.
He's listed in stable condition.
Police say Noel had been drinking just before the accident.

The teenaged drunk driver who struck and killed a teacher in Roanoke County last year now says he bought beer from the same store- -15 to 25 times- -before the fatal accident.

At an Alcoholic Beverage Control hearing today, the boy- -who's now 17- -told the hearing examiner that he was already intoxicated when he went into the Riverside Quickette the night of December 14.
He indicated he'd bought beer there before, as often as once a week from various clerks.
The owner of the store says he's made it clear to his employees: if the customer has "NO I-D, there's no sale" of alcohol.
It'll be at least a week before the hearing examiner decides whether Fred Dotson's beer and wine license should be suspended.

Former Heavyweight Champion Riddick Bowe found himself on the ground in the 7th round after Andrew Golota landed his fourth low blow.
The Polish heavyweight was disqualified from the fight.
That sent one of Bowe's handlers into Golota's corner where he attacked the fighter.
Then spectators joined in.
The fighting lasted about 30 minutes, leading to 10 arrests.
Golota's 74 year old trainer was injured is now hospitalized in stable condition.
Authorities say about 20 others suffered minor injuries, including 8 police officers.

Buckingham Palace made the formal announcement today.
Lawyers for the Prince and Princess say the divorce will be made final August 28th.
Under terms of the deal, Diana will receive a lump sum payment that British papers put as high as 26- million.
The royal couple has been separated since 19-92.
