Russia's President Boris Yeltsin abruptly cancelled a scheduled meeting today with Vice President Al Gore, and went on vacation for two weeks.

But aides said Yeltsin was not ill, adding he decided to slip in a vacation before his inauguration August 9th.

But, the Vice President did bring with him a strong message of U-S disapproval of renewed fighting in Chechnya.

Police say 46-year-old Timothy Walter Roberts was driving along Route 863 in Pittsylvania County when he ran off the road.
