John Warner challenged Mark late in the debate to sign a letter which John
says he'll send to the Virginia Board of Elections.
John says the letter seeks to clear up any possible name confusion by adding
party affiliations to the ballot.
Mark called this a political ploy.
Both candidates say the debate was fun and plan to declare their differences
during future debates.

Republican congressional candidate George Landrith is getting help from
another leading Republican in his campaign for the House.
House speaker Newt Gingrich will attend a fundraising barbecue for Landrith
tonight in Danville.
On Tuesday, Ambassador Alan Keyes was the keynote speaker at a fundraising
dinner in Collinsville.
Landrith is running against incumbent Virgil Goode in the fifth district.
Goode has been campaigning in Gretna today.
News 7's Teresa Hamiliton will have more on both candidates tonight at 11.

A Forest woman was found dead in the front yard of her home this morning.
48- year- old Phyllis Wade Ayers was found by her husband around 8-30.
They live at the corner of English and Simsbury Lanes.
An autopsy will be performed on Monday.
Bedford County police say the investigation is still pending.
A house on Smith Mountain Lake was destroyed by fire this afternoon.
Fire fighters responded shortly after 1 pm on route 6-66 in Franklin County.
When volunteer crews from Burnt Chimney and Moneta arrived, the rear of the
house was engulfed in flames.
Neighbors called rescue members after seeing smoke coming from the rear of

Roanoke's fire department has been in the news a lot lately.
The chief's plan to downsize the department has brought increased attention
to its members.
Chief Grigsby says engine companies routinely go 10- seven, or out of

The three-week program helps students prepare for college.

Lehman shot a seven under par 64 today for a commanding six shot lead after
three rounds of the British open.
Lehman carded 8 birdies in setting a course record at St. Annes. The
American was in line to tie a record for lowest round in a major but he missed

Lehman is at 198 15 under par.
Nick Faldo is in second place at 204, 9 under par he came in with a three
under par 68 in todays round.
Faldo is one shot better than Mark Brooks and Vijay Singh. Fred Couples
and Ernie Els are 8 shots behind Lehman.
Mark Martin will start on the pole for tomorrow's running of the Miller 500
at the Pocono Raceway.
Martin turned in a record speed of 163-point-869 miles per hour to nail
down the starting spot. Morgan Shepherd will start on the outside.

Coy Gibbs, The youngest son of former Redskins Head Coach Joe Gibbs, was

Hockey superstar Wayne Gretzky has reached an agreement to play hockey in
The New York Post reported today that the N-H-L's Rangers have signed
Gretzky to a two year contract.

Its also reported that Messier has agreed to take a pay cut to allow the
Rangers to sign Gretzky.
Gretzky broke off negotiations with Vancouver yesterday. The Rangers have
