Nearly two years after Theresa, Blain, Anah and Winter Hodges were discovered
dead in their burned out home in Vinton, an arrest is made.

The suspect is a friend of the family... a man who spent a lot of time at
the house on East Virginia Avenue. He'd been seen painting the house the day
before the fire.

The evidence showed the Hodges were all shot or strangled before the fire
Earl Bramblett was a suspect early-on, but he wasn't very forth- coming.
Police searched a motel where he was staying and a storage unit he rented.
Bramblett was indicted today in Roanoke County. He was arrested this
afternoon in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

It took Atlanta police ten minutes to dispatch officers after the bomb
warning call came in Saturday.
The Associated press says emergency operators spent ten minutes trying to
find an address for Centennial Park.
So far no comment from police on the reported delay.
Meanwhile centennial park reopened today- three days after the bombing.

An A-B-C Hearing Officer has Sub-stantiated charges that a Roanoke County
convenience store sold beer to the teenager who struck and killed a teacher

Unless Riverside Quickette appeals or pays a one thousand dollar fine, the
store will lose its wine and beer license for 30 days.
Paying the fine would reduce the suspension to TWENTY days.
The Glenvar honor student who bought the beer the night of December 14th was
16 at the time and said he was already drunk when he went into the store.
About an hour later, the young man's car struck Bonnie Kitts as she walked
along the road near her home.
The hearing examiner concluded the boy's age and intoxication "aggravated
the seriousness of the offense."

Virginia Military Institute is looking to Texas for a model of co-education.
The VMI Board of Visitors met in closed session in Richmond today to talk
about a plan to admit women -- without changing the character of the school.
The Board heard from Texas A&M University Major Rebecca Ray about her
school's 100 female cadets.
Texas A&M's women must endure an experience similar to VMI's famed rat line.

The Federal Election Commission is suing the Virginia-based Christian
The F-E-C is asking a federal court to impose fines prevent the Coalition
from promoting political candidates.
Virginia Beach televangelist and founder Pat Robertson and executive
director Ralph Reed say the group is NOT political and should NOT pay taxes or
file financial disclosure forms.
The Virginia Democratic Party applauds the lawsuit.
A statement from party chairwoman Sue Wrenn reads "the Christian Coalition
is nothing more or less than an arm of the Republican party, an arm that has
been used to bend and break the law."
Bob Dole says the public wants less sex and violence on the big screen and
the small screen.
The Republican delivered that message today to entertainment executives in

Topping tonight's Health Check report: A Roanoke mail order company accused
of marketing unsafe hearing aids has agreed to provide refunds to customers.
Telebrands sold a product called Whisper X-L, that didn't have the approval
of the Food and Drug Administration.
Attorneys general in 17 states brought complaints against the New

Pregnancy may be killing twice as many American women as anyone thought.

fight premature labor.
The National Women's Health Network claims at least two previously-healthy
women died using the at-home drug pump prescribed for thousands of pregnant
The device pumps an asthma drug-- (Tur-BUTE-a-lean Terbutaline- which is
not approved for use against premature labor.
The maker of the device stands by the practice-- and says nurses telephone
patients daily to check for side effects.
