Dale Earnhardt started the race on the pole and he was suppose to turn the car over to David Green the first chance he had to take the car in the pits as he did on this green flag stop.
But Green stood in the pits with a head set on as Earnhardt went back on the road course to race.
Earnhardt, recovering from those injuries at Talladega, was in good enough shape to lead the race with 51 laps to go. And he showed no sign of getting out of the car.
Rusty Wallace was running second until he gets loose and slides into the grass dropping him at least 10 positions behind the leaders.
Ken Schrader had his turn and he would lead the race for several laps but he had problems and dropped back in the field.
Bodine took the lead from Schrader will 11 laps to go and he would hold off the field winning the race at Watkins Glen.
