Federal investigators are now trying to determine what caused a small plane to crash in Roanoke County overnight.
The single engine Beechcraft went down on Catawba Mountain killing the pilot, Praveen (Busk-AIR-in) Bhaskaran of Vinton.

Praveen Bhaskaran was an experienced pilot. He was carrying bank documents on a regular flight between Charlotte and Roanoke.
The single engine Beech Bonanza went down in the steep terrain near McAfee's Knob.
Witnesses said the plane crashed in heavy rain and fog, but investigators aren't offering an early conclusions on the cause.

And to drive the point home, pulled words from average Americans.

Masked thieves held up an Air France Europe plane- that had just landed in Southern France.

The four thieves rammed a van through a parking lot fence and drove up to the Airbus as it taxied toward the terminal.
The suspects then fired shots toward the cockpit- ordered the pilot to shut off the engine and open the hold where a safe was held.
The men then broke open the safe and took a large amount of cash while the 172 passengers and crew looked on.
The robbers sped off- no one was hurt but the investigation is ongoing.

A small private jet crashed onto a busy road near London- slamming into a van and breaking in two.
Amazingly all three people aboard the plane suffered only minor injuries.
Rescue crews had to cut the driver of the van out of his vehicle.

Some scary moments for passengers aboard an American airlines jet bound for Switzerland- Smoke in the cockpit forced an emergency landing.

No one was hurt but passengers were stuck in the airport for awhile.

Rainwater washed away soil at the cinderblock foundation.
Police secured the building.
Right now, no one's allowed inside.
The Red Cross found shelter for residents, who were evacuated.

The owner says he doesn't know yet what will happen to the apartment house-- but hopes his tenants can get their belongings sometime this week.

Two months ago, Ring-gold Fire Chief Mike Neal donated a kidney to his 11- year old daughter.
When Stephanie was two, she was diagnosed with an underdeveloped bladder.
Four years later, the Neals were told Stephanie would eventually need a kidney transplant.
Both parents volunteered, but Mike Neal was selected by doctors as the best candidate.
Since the surgery, Stephanie has gained nearly 20- pounds and can eat and drink almost anything she wants.

German is ranked 7th in the country. The Columbus Georgia native shot a 3 over 74.

No shows helped some golfers get into the field. Martinsville's Jason Wells made it as an alternate.
Tournament organizers were forced to take an alternate route after heavy rains Monday pushed first round tee times back 1 hour. Roanoke's Lee Taylor should contend in the 13-14 age group.
