A plane crash in Roanoke County has claimed the life of a Vinton man.
Emergency crews spent most of the night searching for the single engine
aircraft. They found it a few hours ago on Mack-Uh-Fee Knob.

Excitement is running high in San Diego after stirring speeches from Colin
Powell and former first lady Nancy Reagan at the opening of the Republican
New York Congresswoman Susan Molinari will be in the spotlight tonight when

today to charges he set a blaze in a fireworks store last month that killed

Meanwhile, Monday's rainfall was the cause of a tractor trailer accident
on route 100 in Carroll County.
The truck apparently hydroplaned on the slick road surface, jackknifed,
and ran over a van parked on the side of the road.

Jimmy Butler is calling it quits.
Butler says he's grateful for the support of the Roanoke Valley, and the

The Roanoke Comedy Club has hosted a number of well-known comedians over
the years, including Rosie O'Donnell and Martin Lawrence.
But the club will close its doors after a final round of shows Thursday,
Friday and Saturday nights.
Shoppers at the Valley View Mall in Roanoke are learning that the stork
delivers more than just babies.
It also delivers V-I-P parking spaces, if you shop at Sears.
A little less than two months ago, the department store set up "maternity
spaces" outside its main mall entrance.

The store manager at Sears first saw similar spaces in the parking lot of an
old grocery store in West Salem.
Parents with young children are also allowed to use the space.
But there's no policing, it's all done on the honor system.
So far people seem to like the spaces.
Other stores in the mall want more spaces set up.
Management is responding.
In the coming months eight additional maternity spaces will be put near the
mall's main entrances.

A day after the New York Stock Exchange said it's
considering moving, there's word Donald Trump may lend a hand.
The ``New York Post'' reports Trump plans to build the world's
tallest building at the end of Wall Street, to house the N-Y-S-E.
The paper says the planned building would be named the New York
Stock Exchange Tower and take three and a-half years to build.
Yesterday an exchange spokesman said the N-Y-S-E is in the
preliminary stages of looking at new, larger, more modern sites in
New York, but that it's ruled out a move to New Jersey.
Stocks are lower after two economic reports reignited concerns about
inflation and interest rates.
On Wall Street at Noon, the Dow was DOWN 26 points.
