Bedford County fire crews have had a busy day-- just before midnight this blaze broke out.
The Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the Whispering Pines Trailer Park within eight minutes of the first call.
But the trailer was already a total loss.
The owner of home, John Goode was not in the trailer at the time.
Investigators were looking into arson as a possible cause.
No word yet if that was the case.

A few miles away, the Bedford County Sheriff's Department dealt with a brief hostage situation last night.

Dispatchers received a call that Chester Hickman of Bedford County broke into an ex- girlfriend's house on route 8-0-5, and took three people hostage.

Reports of three armed robberies in Roanoke sound like the work of the same two men.

The first robbery took place at the Turbo Food Mart on Plantation Road just after midnight Friday night.
The clerk told police one of the men was carrying a handgun, and they both wore ski masks.
Around 5-30 A-M the two went into the Uni-Mart on South Jefferson Street.
The clerk said one of the robbers kept yelling at the one with the gun, telling him to kill the clerk because he was taking too long to hand over the money.
Fifteen minutes later they were at the 7-11 store on Grandin Road, yelling obscenities, demanding cash.

A new study from Boston University suggests that women whose jobs might expose them to electromagnetic fields may have an increased risk of breast cancer.
Investigators found that women with careers such as main-frame computer operators seem to have a 43-percent increase in breast cancer risk compared to other women.
Now this study is going to be getting a great deal of attention-- but as the editorial that accompanys it suggests, there are many questions regarding the findings--
Including, the study just wasn't done very well....and there will have to be better research before a definitive link is drawn between E-M-Fs and cancer.

Many of the participants return each year as the event grows bigger and bigger.
