Merritt and seven other Air Force officers on board were stationed at Dyess Air Force base in Abilene, Texas.

That means deputies will spend more time behind the wheel than behind a desk.

Beyer's office has confirmed that the man rescued by passersby on Sunday was Donald Sternoff Beyer the Third, the lieutenant governor's 20-year-old son.
The Beyer family had no comment on the incident.
The younger Beyer was treated and released from a Frederick County hospital.

Local broadcast reports out of Los Angeles this morning say the coroner's office has concluded actress Magaux Hemingway committed suicide.

Hemingway's body was found July first.
The report says she died from (fee-nuh-BAHR'-bi-tawl) phenobarbitol use, at a level consistent with an intentional overdose.

She did not have a prescription for the drug, and police say she left no suicide note.
The coroner's office did not confirm the report but is expected to release its finding later today.
Hemingway was 41-years old.
