The Citadel ended its three-year legal battle to BAN women after the U-S Supreme Court ruled in June that the all-male policy at the Virginia Military Institute was unconstitutional.

The new recruits come on the heals of the supreme court ruling that makes unconstitutional to ban women form attending publicly funded colleges.

The future will now be made up of women like Nancy Mace.
She's been training all summer to meet the tough physical standards of the Citadel.

It's an atmosphere historically geared toward men.
While most cadets now say they are willing to accept women, they admit it won't be easy.

But has the attitude here really changed?

Wallace's ford dominated the field as he took the checkered flag winning the short track race.

Dale Earnhardt did start the race tonight after talking about turning his ride over to a relief driver.
Jeff Gordon set the pace early he was the leader after 41 laps in the Goody's 500.
Then on lap 72 Geoff Bodine blows a tire gets in a spin and hits the wall bringing out the second caution of the night.
But the dominate car was the Ford of Rusty Wallace. Wallace was the leader at the halfway mark after leading most of the laps in the first half.
Ricky Craven was running a strong race but he spins out and crashes in turn two bringing out the caution.
Then with 65 laps left in the race Dale Jarrett was moving to the front he was in fifth place with Terry Labonte right behind him.
But Wallace worked his way through traffic at the end of the race and he holds off Jeff Gordon winning the Goody's 500.
