WE are working on a story at this hour of an apparent escape of several juveniles from a facility called the Sanctuary which is near the Juvenile Detention Center in Botetourt County.
Authorities tell us the sanctuary is used as a holding facility for wayward youth... some with criminal charges.
Apparently law enforcement officers and deputies are on the scene searching the area for the young people.
The identity of the juveniles have NOT been made available.
There's a News Seven crew at the scene. .. we'll bring you up to date as information is made available.

On the eve of the start of the convention, Bob Dole and his running mate brought their campaign to Oregon today.
Speaking to the crowd at a rally at Portland's Rose Quarter Commons this evening, Republican vice presidential candidate Jack Kemp urged his supporters to not only vote for a Republican president but to also vote for a Republican congress.
Bob Dole again attacked President Clinton for not doing enough to deal with the drug problem in America citing last week's report on drugs.
The two will later attend a fundraising dinner at a downtown hotel.

In Halifax County a husband has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting his wife to death this morning.
Police say 48- year- old Robert Lewis Clay shot his wife, Joy at around 11 O'Clock at their home on highway 7-0-6.
She was shot in the arm and head with a 12 gauge shotgun.
Clay turned himself over to sheriff's deputies 30 minutes after the shooting.
He's charged with first degree murder.

Residents of Bend, Oregon, took time to survey the damage from wildfires that destroyed nineteen homes.

Around 500 were evacuated yesterday.
Many will not be able to return to their home until Tuesday, at the earliest.
Although the fires are currently moving away from the subdivisions, people fear that the winds could shift the fires back in the direction of the homes.

Their property of choice is this lot on the corner of Melrose and Fantress Street.
Inmates would serve out the end of their sentence in the halfway house.

The construction project is also changing the traffic pattern in the parking lot of the both the middle and high schools.

11 year old Kenny Lewis of Danville, who just happens to be the son of former Hokie Kenny Lewis, won a gold medal at the A-A-U Junior Olympic games in New Orleans.

When you enter Burlington's Lees Carpets plant, you are immediately struck by how large it is...in all, the factory has 34 ACRES under one roof.
Some of the employees who often go from one end of the facility to the other are actually equipped with BICYCLES.

The 1200 people who work here make 140 styles of carpet, and when you account for all the different colors, there are 3500 selections that can come out of this plant.
One of its most labor and machine intensive operations is the "tufting" department...where modern day looms, each with no fewer than 900 needles in them, make carpet from spools of yarn.

This 100- million- dollar plant is referred to as one that's "vertically integrated", which means it makes nearly all the items it needs to manufacture carpet right on the premises.
In all, there are 40 separate processes that take place before the carpet goes out the back door...and that means folks like Fred Southers have a lot of machines to take care of.
