For working people, retirement is a big part of the American Dream.
But pensions employees receive are shrinking, Social Security looks iffy,
and the cost of living keeps going up.
The Institute of Certified Financial Planners says consider these points
before you retire.
REASONS TO KEEP WORKING.
You may need to keep working because you can't retire at the income level
you'd like.
And for some, work gives people purpose and meaning.
CAREER CHOICES.
You can always switch to another job.
You could go back to school and learn a new career.
WORK OPTIONS
You don't have to work full- time.
Part- time work, telecommuting, or freelancing are all possibilities.
RETIREMENT MYTHS.
Rethinking retirement means shattering myths.
Common ones include things like older workers aren't desirable, are less
productive, and can't learn new ways.
