A co-worker heard the accident and ran to assist, but was unable to find a pulse.

A serious accident on Hollins Road

CLOSED the road for more than two hours this afternoon.
A Cadillac had just turned off Travilian onto Hollins Road when it ran into an Oldsmobile station wagon.
Roanoke County police theorize that Grover Mayberry tried to avoid the accident, but ran off the road, hit a pole and wound up hitting the other car broadside.
Mayberry was not wearing a seatbelt. He was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital by Lifeguard 10.
The 81-year old North County man was scheduled for surgery tonight.

Penny Stallins was cited in Botetourt County this time.
Last month a Salem Grand Jury charged her with possession of cocaine, with intent to distribute plus one count of marijuana possession.
As we reported at the time, the Salem case grew out of a drug bust in Botetourt June 3rd.
Stallins was a Salem High School gym teacher and retired from Andrew Lewis last year with a medical disability.
She's a three- time winner of the Roanoke Valley Hall of Fame Women's Golf Tournament.
