President Clinton trades steel rails for pavement today as he heads out on
a bus-stop campaign tour through four key states.
With the Democratic nomination in hand, Mr. Clinton will be looking for
votes in Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee on a two-day bus trip.
Meantime, the President's former chief political strategist is holed up at
his home in Connecticut after resigning in the wake of an alleged sex scandal.

Last night was everything Bill Clinton could've wanted in a campaign kick-off,
except for one thing...a man named Dick Morris...seen here arriving home in
Connecticut with his wife after a hasty departure from Chicago.
Morris resigned as the Clinton Campaign's top consultant after a
tabloid said he'd been seeing a high-priced hooker and letting her in on
confidential White House information.
Morris didnt deny it but called it yellow journalsim.
But that nomination-night knuckle sandwich didn't seem to up set
the man who's run-into tabloid trouble before.
For over an hour, President Clinton portrayed America as on the
mend, recounting this week's campaign train trip.

A U-S Air Jet taking off from Charlotte headed to Roanoke was forced to turn
back last night and make an emergency landing.

Meantime, a U-S Air jetliner on its way from Florida to Indiana had to make
an emergency landing last night in Tennessee.
The 7-37 hit an airpocket and dropped several hundred feet, before
stabilizing.
Four people were seriously hurt in the incident and are hospitalized today
with spine, neck or back injuries.
One passenger says people who were standing in the aisles hit their heads on
the roof of the plane.

Meantime, ValuJet is getting ready to fly again following the all-clear
from federal regulators.
The budget airline was grounded in June because of concerns over its
maintenance procedures.
A ValuJet D-C-Nine crashed May eleventh in the Florida Everglades killing
110 people.
Under the F-A-A ruling, ValuJet would return to service next week operating
nine aircrafts and it would be allowed to add six more over the following few
days.
That's down from 51 it was using before it was grounded.

Salvage crews were trying to recover the 21-ton chunk of the ship today,
when lines attaching it to flotation balloons snapped sending it back to the
bottom of the North Atlantic, two and a-half miles deep.
The crews did manage to attach a transponder to the piece of debris.
A spokesman says that will make it easier to retrieve, when they try again
next summer.
