the lake claimed the lives of SEVEN people last night.

They had gone to the lake to visit the memorial to the boys who died...
Apparently five people got out of the van and a short time later it began to
roll into the lake.
As the vehicle rolled down the ramp and into the water, two adults dived in
to help but were unable to reach the victims.

A fight in the town of Galax turned deadly last night.
Police responded to a call just before midnight at a restaurant called Roy's
Underground.
24-year- old Luis Antonio Zecena (ZEH-see-nah) and Roberto Escobar, also 24,
were taken to Twin County Regional Hospital with knife wounds to the chest and
side.
Zecena died at the hospital.
Escobar's condition has not been released.
Police are holding 22-year-old Joel Rosas Maldonado in the Grayson County
Jail on 100-thousand dollars bond.
The North Carolina man is charged with murder and malicious wounding.

98 percent of those voting turned thumbs down on the proposal.

"fill dirt" which has caused the floor to sink.

By this afternoon the storm was about 220 miles south of Nantucket Island
with winds down to 105 miles per hour.
Forecasters say the storm should weaken over the next 24 hours, but
hurricane conditions could reach southeastern New England after midnight.

Economic developers in Rockbridge County are becoming frustrated in their
efforts to sell the vacant Blue Bird schoolbus plant in Buena Vista.
The schoolbus company has turned down several offers to buy the plant from
Natural Bridge based- DesChamps Labs.
And a major supplier for Lynchburg's Ericsson Corporation will set up its
own plant in the Hill city and create 120 new jobs.
Tessy Plastics of New York will set up shop in the Lynchpin Industrial Park.

ended on lap 47 when he ran through some oil and hit the wall he went three
laps down.
Rusty Wallace was also involved in a crash in the same spot sending him to

Jimmy Spencer made his move and he blew by Ken Schrader to take the lead
of the race shortly after lap 65.
Dale Earnhardt was having handling problems he goes to the pits for fuel
and a tire change he was running 21-st at the time.
Hut Stricklin came from way back to take the lead with 174 laps and he
would remain up front until near the end of the race.
Earnhardt got back on the track and was on the move but he hits the wall
in turn two causing a series of wrecks involving several cars.
