Tonight half a million people are being evacuated from Coastal South Carolina- where Fran is expected to hit by this time tomorrow night.

Carilion Radford Community Hospital is planning a Spring groundbreaking for a new facility- now that the state health commissioner has given approval.
R-C-H's application was chosen over a joint competing proposal submitted by Columbia/H-C-A of Montgomery County and Pulaski.
R-C-H plans to build a 97-bed hospital near the intersection of Interstate-81 and Route 177 in Montgomery County.
If construction proceeds as scheduled, the 30 million-dollar facility will open in 1998.
Columbia/H-C-A still has the option of appealing the commissioner's ruling.

For more than an hour, fire crews waited to enter this house on Knowles Road.
A liquid oxygen tank was being stored in the basement... and when flood waters ripped through the ground- level, the tank started to leak.
That meant the house was in danger of exploding.
The owner of the home, Dan Fargnoli needs the oxygen to survive.
Both he and his wife had to be evacuated.

Then they strapped on gas masks and were able to remove the tank without any difficulty.
No one was hurt.

News 7 Sports has learned that head basketball coach Bill Foster will announce he is retiring at the end of the 1996-97 season at an 11am newsconference tomorrow.

The popular head coach turned 60 on April Fools day this year, and some of his peers in the coaching ranks believe he's been thinking about retirement for past several months.
Ironically, Foster came out of retirement to take over the Tech program in 1991. In five years his teams have won over 80 games, an NIT Championship and an NCAA tournament invitation. He also won his 500 career game last season in New Orleans.
Foster has made no secret that he would like for current assistant Bobby Hussey to succeed him at Tech.
A successor is not expected to be named tomorrow.

But today the sun was shining on top seeded Steffi Graf, who advanced to the semi-finals with a SO-SO win over Judith Weisner.
Steffi committed 43 unforced errors and a needed an hour and a half to take the match 7-5 and 6-3, her 40th straight Grand Slam win.
She will now face Martin Hingis the 15 year old phenom in the semis after Hingis upset Jana Novotna 7-6 and 6-4.

Not long after the horses passed in front of the spectators on the grass track, a number of deer came out of the woods, and for some reason picked on this one poor spectator.
