Tonight eight- tractor trailers mixed it up on Interstate 81 and left
traffic backed up for miles in Botetourt County.
It happened around seven O'Clock near exit 1-65.
Authorities say these trucks were driving northbound when one of them
decided to stop on the James River Bridge.

The city of Buena Vista has been rocked by flooding several times in the
This time Fran didn't pack the WALLOP city officials expected.
But they were prepared.

In the summer of '95 the city was hit by BACK to BACK floods.
High waters tore up roads and left many homeless.
This weekend several streets flooded, but officials say it wasn't even close
to what they experienced in recent floods.
And if high waters do come, officials say Buena Vista's flood wall will

Richard Flora says the flood wall will be 90-percent complete by November.

Rapper Tupac Shakur (TOO'-pahk shah-KOOR') is in critical condition after
being shot several times on the streets of Las Vegas.
He received several bullet wounds to his chest last night.

Shakur and a record company executive were shot in a car in Las Vegas as
they rode in a ten car convoy.
They were apparently headed to a nightclub after watching the Mike Tyson
heavyweight fight when a white Cadillac pulled alongside and riddled the car

In November 1994, Shakur was shot five times in the lobby of a Manhattan
Iraq officials are claiming their troops fired on U-S and allied aircraft
today... but missed.
Iraqi officials say it took place over the no-fly zones.

The Carilion Radford Community Hospital is planning a new 30 million dollar,
97 bed hospital near the intersection of Interstate 81 and Route 177 in
The name says it all: Head Start. Another year is underway for the program
that helps kids in the all-important pre-school years.
Head Start provides care and a safe place for children three to five years
old while their parents get on their feet in the work force.
Dental checkups, nutrition and play are all a big part of Head Start.
The Campbell Avenue program helps children learn to make decisions by first
letting them choose their own play areas.

Roanoke's Jackson River Middle School will open tomorrow after a week delay.
The newly renovated school didn't open with the other city schools last week
because renovation work had not been completed.
School starts for the sixth, seventh, and eighth graders at 7:40.

The New River Valley Speedway held its final regular season race of the
season and also crowned a points champion.
Track favorite Johnny Rumley took the checkered flag winning the Shepherd
Auto Supply 200 for his second win of the season at the short track in Radford.
But the big winner was Chad Harris of Stuart's Draft in car number 75. His
third place finish gave him the tracks points championship.
