The plant's human resource director, John McQuail, says the company is
acting within the agreed contract.
He says they stand by their decision to implement new job classifications in

These classifications enable the company to better meet the needs of the
customer.
The union's contract is good through the year 2000.
The plant employs about 19-hundred workers.
15-hundred of those are union members.
An arbitration date is scheduled in October.
