State police say 31- year- old Hong Lang Hu (WHO) apparently lost control
of his vehicle while traveling north in Botetourt county.
Authorities say Hu crossed the median and struck another car head- on--
killing that driver.
Her name has not been released.
Meanwhile, Hu was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he was treated
for facial injuries.
He's charged with reckless driving.
Both drivers are from Pennsylvania.

And a spokesman for Schewel's says the furniture store will open a customer

Fairlawn within the next few weeks.
The fire nearly leveled the entire shopping center Saturday. Still no word

After overseeing an eight hour preliminary hearing, Judge Bernard Goodwyn
dismissed the charge after a half dozen witnesses all confirmed that Smith was
not involved in the attack.

Jimmy Spencer took offense to Wally Dallenbach after a multi-car wreck and
was like a raging bull as not even NASCAR officials could slow him down.
Then right after the conclusion of the race, Kyle Petty and Michael Waltrip,
who finished eighth and ninth respectively, decided they'd had about enough of
each other.
Kyle obviously had a problem with Waltrip, who to his credit would not back
down and eventually spoke his peace to Kyle before both parted ways.

The NCAA body slammed Michigan State's program with four years probation
yesterday.

The Spartans broke rules concerning recruiting, benefits, academic
eligibility, ethical conduct and institutional control.
The program will immediately lose seven scholarships next season, plus the
Spartans will be subject to repeat-violator provision for five years. Meaning
any violation before June 2001 will result in the death penalty for the program
for 2 years.
Despite all these sanctions State is still eligible for bowl appearances.
