Conservative Virginia Baptists have made an official split with the more moderate Baptist General Association of Virginia.
The new Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia group includes about 115 churches, and is about one- tenth the size of its more moderate counterpart.
Idealogical differences led to the split-- the conservatives believe the Bible is the literal truth, and moderates believe some of the Bible is simply meant to be inspirational.
