Last month a Washington D-C doctor who specializes in chronic pain treatment
had his licence REVOKED by the Virginia Board of Medicine.
Now a former patient of William Hurwitz is suing to overturn the ruling.
The board ruled Hurwitz overprescribed narcotics and failed to sufficiently
monitor his patients.
Laura Cooper, a Washington-based lawyer, filed a class-action lawsuit in U-S
District Court in Richmond yesterday.
Hurwitz and Cooper say that one patient, a New York man, has killed himself
because he could not stand the pain he was in.
Cooper, who has multiple sclerosis, said she is concerned that other former
Hurwitz patients, unable to obtain pain relief, will be pushed to suicide.

Late last night drug sniffing dogs found nearly eight pounds of heroin on
Samper's presidential jet.
Samper was preparing to fly to New York to give an anti- drug speech at the

Samper described the incident as "base" and said whoever planted the heroin
is "dirtying the face of Columbia."
The State Department revoked Samper's U.S. tourist visa in July because of
charges that his campaign received six million dollars from a well- known
Columbian drug cartel.
Samper was cleared of those charges.
