Last week, the Commission on Presidential Debates recommended
Perot's exclusion arguing he doesn't have a realistic chance of winning.
Over the weekend.. representatives from Bob Dole and President Clinton's
Perot's lawsuit is scheduled to be heard Thursday.
With a stroke of his pen today, President Clinton gave a 3-percent pay
raise to the country's military personnel.
The defense authorization bill allots more money for military spending
than the President had wanted.
Most will go to weapons purchases and research.
But the defense spending bill also strengthens federal laws against
stalking-- making it a crime to cross state lines to harrass or stalk someone.

today involving a schoolbus, a car, and a semitruck.

Wilder says the tragedy is that the Democratic grassroots network isn't
there to support even a candidate who's as wealthy as Mark Warner.

As Ross Perot challenges his exclusion from the Presidential debates, a
LOCAL Reform Party candidate may find himself left out of a proposed
congressional debate in the Ninth District.
Congressman Rick Boucher says his staff is negotiating a debate with
Republican challenger Patrick Muldoon.
But the plans do not include independent Tom Roberts.

Muldoon says he'll gladly include Roberts, but doesn't mind leaving him out
if that's what it takes to schedule a debate with BOUCHER.
Roberts says he has notified Boucher and Muldoon he DOES want to participate
in a debate.
Boucher was in Blacksburg today as a special commission he created
announced its recommendations for the future of Southwest Virginia.
The commission has worked the last year to identify goals for the region.
They include ideas for education, economic development, transportation,
tourism and environmental improvements.

In London, a series of raids apparently foiled a major I-R-A bomb attack.
Five men were arrested, another was killed in a shootout with police.

The woman told investigators she got a phone call yesterday afternoon telling

She says four masked men grabbed her, took her to a wooded area, then raped
The victim said that during the attack, the men talked about an ongoing
domestic problem in which she was involved.
Police later discovered that the woman's 13-year-old son wasn't abducted.

The Atlanta Falcons have suspended quarterback Jeff George after he got into
a shouting match with head coach June Jones in last night loss to the Eagles.
George, who has always had a way to showing his temper in the wrong way
showed his displeasure with Jones after he was benched in the third quarter
George spoke to the media after the game, but immediately left the team's
practice facility today after learning of the suspension. His status with the
team will be reviewed later in the week.
But Bobby Hebert will start Sunday's game with the 49ers.
