Roanoke County residents who lost their water supply earlier this month
when Tropical Fran passed thru got some discouraging news from County
supervisors last night.
The board offered words of sympathy but said it would not bring them county
water for free.

The First Wives Club is terrific entertainment, particularly for "women of a
certain age". Although some men may find it disturbing.

fire on Interstate 5-81.

The accident happened in the southbound lanes of 5-81 near the Hershberger
Road interchange at about three P-M yesterday.
The vehicles were driving alongside each other when the CAR left the road.
Witnesses say the car hit the median, and then went UNDER the trailer.
The two people injured, escaped from their car with the help of other
motorists.
The car AND trailer then exploded.
The injured were taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, their injuries are not
life-threatening.
