A family physician in New Castle has been accused of posing as a police
officer, pulling a gun on another man.
Doctor William C. Anderson faces a charge of brandishing a firearm in an
incident about ten days ago.
Anderson works for the local Lewis Gale Family Practice in New Castle.
He's on vacation this week and could not be reached this afternoon.
An abandoned building collapsed in Richmond today injuring three workers.
The workers fell about 40 feet when the metal beams that were holding their
platform fell in.
The men were trapped for a few minutes in the debris.
They were in the process of salvaging and demolishing the empty warehouse.
Progress is being made to ease overcrowding in Lynchburg's juvenile

to pay for AT LEAST a two-day hospital stay for mothers and their babies.

It also extends benefits to the children of veterans who have the birth

It's an ominous sign as the biggest increase in cancer deaths is from lung

The F-D-A has approved a new treatment for one of the most aggressive
types of brain tumors---known as glioblastomas.
A small wafer impregnated with a drug is inserted directly into the cavity
left when a brain tumor is removed---which allows the anti-cancer drug to be
delivered directly to the site of the disease.
Patients who received the treatment had longer survival rates than those
who did not.
Brain damage in newborn babies has always been nearly impossible to
detect-- but doctors in London say they've created a baby-sized type of M-R-I--
Magnetic Resonance Imagery.
As many as 10-percent of premature babies suffer from brain damage, usually
from lack of oxygen in the womb.
But they can't be put in adult-sized scanners, especially if they're
attached to life sustaining equipment.

Researchers have announced that a new flu pill appears to stop influenza
In California, studies have been done only on animals so far-- human
testing is just beginning.
Unlike flu shots, this treatment isn't an injection....and you don't have
to get it a month in advance.
And while prescription flu drugs like flumadine may relieve symptoms, the
new pill could prevent them from ever starting.
What's more, unlike current treatments, researchers believe the new one
works for all types of flu.
