Family members of murder victims took a stand AGAINST the death penalty
today in Blacksburg.
Murder Victims' Families for Reconciliation is taking its message of
non-violence to communities all over the state.
The two week tour is called The Journey of Hope.

term rates.
For the second time in two years, the Noble Met company in Salem is
expanding.

expects it will hire about 30 more people by the end of next year.
And the Masonite Corporation in Danville will also be hiring soon.
The hardboard manufacturer is creating a fourth shift that will require
another 60 people.
Norfolk Southern is being sued by a North Carolina railroad.
The North Carolina Railroad Company says N-S has refused to pay the rent on
its tracks for the past two months.
Checking the major financial markets for the week, the Dow Jones Industrial
Average slipped about 16 points while Nasdaq finished well up 10 points.

The MainStreet Bankgroup has completed what it calls its affiliation with
The First National Bank of Clifton Forge.
First National shareholders approved the transaction earlier this month.

now, the Alleghany Highlands.

Then on lap 72 Kyle Petty gets lose and hits Ernie Irvan, who was leading

it over with 222 laps left in the race.
Rick Mast was having a strong run in third place behind Wallace and Gordon
who was leading the race at the halfway point.
Dale Earnhardt, who started 11-th, was the seventh leader of the race with
176 laps to go.
Dale Jarrett was working his way to the front as he ran side by side with
Gordon the battle for second palce at that point in the race.
But the field couldn't catch up with Gordon he saved his tires at the right
time and he cruised to victory ahead of Earnhardt winning his 10-th race of the
season and the last Cup Race at Wilkesboro.
