A new study shows that taking estrogen can help prevent osteoarthritis in women over 65.

The study published in the "Archives of Internal Medicine" found a 38 percent lower risk of osteoarthritis of the hip in women taking estrogen compared to women who never took it.
Osteoarthritis is a disease of the cartilage in the joints that occurs as people age.
It accounts for 70 percent of the 200-thousand hip and knee replacement surgeries in the U.S. each year.

The umpires who had threatened to boycott the playoffs after Roberto Alomar spat in one of their brethren's face last week, did some to work.
As did Alomar who took his spot at second base while being serenaded with a chorus of boos by his home fans.

Brady Anderson leads off the game with a solo homer to right and it's 1-to-nothing Orioles.
The Indians Manny Ramirez would answer that with a solo shot of is own to left field. It's 1-to-1 in the top of the second.
